Why are we here?
W4W Essex is a social group that aims to provide women with fun and friends. It doesn't matter if you are 'out' or not, you can come to our social events and meetings knowing that the events are either 'lesbian only', 'women only' or 'members, friends and family'.
What do you get?
Fun, support, information, new friends and more fun!
Most of the events we organise are just for our members but we make sure that we include events for our friends and family as well. Some of our events are fundraisers, some are subsidised by membership fees and lots are free!
Many women make friends and expand their social life, get to meet other lesbian mums or exchange recipes or gardening tips.
You will also get cheaper entry to some venues and members pay less to most of the events we organise.
What do you give?
We ask for an annual subscription to cover the cost of sending you a monthly diary and yearly newsletter, it's a bargain! (see contact us page)
You can also help organise or run an event if you would like to, or perhaps join the committee.
You can stand for election to the committee at our Annual General Meeting if you want to contribute to the day to day running of W4W Essex.
You can give us your ideas for events verbally, via email, phone or text.
We welcome your involvement!

All the information we hold on our database is subject to the Data Protection Act and will not be passed on to anyone else.

Who is W4W Essex for?
Women over the age of 18 who identify as Lesbian or Bisexual or who are unsure about their sexuality.
We welcome all women, whatever their shape, size, colour, football team or bank statement. Some of us like curry, some of us support Southend FC, some of us have kids, some of us have cats.
You can call yourself 'lesbian', 'bi', 'dyke', 'gay' or Susan, you're all welcome.
We are a mixed group so you're bound to find a place with us!
How do we do it?
We organise social events, produce a monthly diary and yearly newsletter and explore different ways to support women.
W4W Essex is run by a committee of members who volunteer to attend monthly meetings and make decisions about how best to move the group forward.
We organise our social events with help from other members, and arrange advertising, apply for grants, oversee the diary contents and generally have a good time.
When we have excess funds to spare we subsidise events to make them more accessible, giving something back to our members.
You might think that you are the 'only lesbian in Essex, not true! Our aim is for as many of you as possible to meet up to find out that you are not alone!
